Mens and Womens soccer began their second round of conference play this past weekend and both squads race toward the conference tournament.
Cru men’s soccer went into the weekend with a record of 6-5-2 and sat at the top of the ASC conference with a record of 3-0-1 going into their Saturday match up against the UT Dallas Comets.
The game was a defensive battle for both squads. In the first half, the comets were held to two shots on goal and the cru were held to zero.
However, the Comets found the scoresheet right before halftime off a penalty kick which gave them the lead going into half.
During the second half, senior goalkeeper Ethan Hilliard, put up a great second half saving five shots on goal keeping the Cru in the game.
However, the Cru offense continued to struggle as they would go on to lose 0-1.
On the Women's side, the Crusader went into the weekend with a record of 9-2-1 going their game this past Sat. against the Comets. The first half saw the Crusader get six shots off however, none of them would find the net.
Additionally, the defense held up in the first half dominating the Comets, only allowing a single shot on goal going into halftime.
The second half was more of the same with the offense putting even more pressure on the Comets this time getting 11 shots off and again not scoring as the Crusader would tie the comets 0-0.
