The Crusader started the scoring in the 16th minute when Freshman Yannis Benae found the net off of a throw-in, putting the Crusader up 1-0. However, the Tigers came right back in the 22nd when they scored the game-tying goal, making the score 1-1. Both defenses wouldn't allow another goal going into halftime, keeping the game tied 1-1.
In the second half, the Tigers broke the tie in the 63rd minute with another goal, pushing the score to 2-1. The Crusaders had opportunities to mount a comeback, but they could not find the back of the net. The Tigers added another goal in the 84th minute, as the Crusaders lost the game 3-1.
With a record of 3-3-2, the Crusaders' next game will be at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday against St. Thomas University at home.
The Women began their weekend action on Sept. 21 with their game against McMurry University. The game started with instant pressure from the offense, with the Cru getting shots on goal. However, they could not find the back of the net until the 42nd minute, when freshman mid-fielder Kamryn Taylor scored the night's first goal, making the score 1-0 going into the half.
One of the biggest highlights of the first half was the Crusader defense, which held the Warhawks to zero shots going into halftime. This dominance would continue in the second half, with the Crusader defense holding the Warhawks to a single shot while the offense added to the lead with a goal by freshman mid-fielder Ariana Vazquez in the 72nd minute, pushing the lead to two. The Crusaders would keep the Warhawks scoreless, as the Cru would win 2-0.
Their second game would be on Sept. 24 when the Crusaders took on Texas Lutheran in Seguin.
The first half was quiet for both teams. The Crusader defense held the Bulldogs to three shots on goal, each saved by Sophomore Oliver Morgan, keeping the game scoreless going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Crusaders broke the draw with a goal by senior midfielder Breland Mungia in the 57th minute. This goal and another strong defensive half led the Cru to the win by a score of 1-0, pushing their record to 4-1-1 on the season.
